William Mackness (c1732-1805)

The Mackness family tree has been traced back to my great-great-great-great-great-grandfather William Mackness. He was born around 1732 (probably in the Huntingdon area)and died in 1805. He married Elizabeth (maiden name unknown) around 1752 and they had 6 children. He was buried on 23 February 1805 in Connington, Hunts.

William Mackness (1762-1827)

My great-great-great-great-grandfather, William Mackness was born on 11 May 1762 at Wood Walton, Hunts. He was a farmer and, from 1805 to 1827, a church warden. He married Sarah Jackson on 16 October 1787 at Wood Walton. They had 14 children. He died in 1827 and was buried on 29 November 1827 at Connington, Hunts.

William Mackness (c1793-1872)

William Mackness (my great-great-great-grandfather) was born in Connington, Huntingdonshire around 1793. His occupation was recorded as a butcher on his son’s marriage certificate in 1858. He married Elizabeth Hill (born Ramsey, Huntingdonshire 1802) on 11 May 1820 and had one son, also called William Mackness, born in 1825 also in Huntingdon. He died in 1872 and was buried on 11 November 1872.

William Mackness (1825 - circa 1900)

William Mackness (my great-great-grandfather) married Ann Eliza Keighley (born circa 1837, Stepney London) on Christmas Day 1858 at St. Dunstans, Stepney. William and Ann Mackness both had their occupations recorded as bakers in the 1881 census. They had eight children including three sons, Henry William (born 1859), Robert (born 1861) and William (born 1876), all of whom have separate pages on this website. In the 1901 census, Ann Eliza Mackness , now aged 65, was living with her eldest son Henry William and his family. Her husband William Mackness had presumably died.
